Keeping Public Spaces Safe

Germicidal Ultraviolet Light for Air Sanitation During COVID-19

On February 25, 2021, the Center for Global Health Delivery, Advance Access & Delivery, the Belfer Center's Middle East Initiative at the Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard Global Health Institute, hosted a webinar featuring a panel of engineers and infectious disease experts to talk about the safety and evidence base supporting the use of upper room germicidal ultraviolet light (UR-GUV). For decades, UR-GUV has been a powerful tool for airborne infection control, and it has recently gained popularity as a possible measure to stop the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in public spaces. The goal of this webinar was to generate awareness around this technology, discuss the safety implications, and advocate for its widespread use for the COVID-19 pandemic. We recorded this webinar and we have shared it below, along with the presentations from the speakers, for public view.
